NewsMedia: Corper Offers Free Surgery To Adamawa Indigenes

Reprieve has come to the way of cleft lip/palate
victims in Adamawa State as a corps member
serving in the state, Victor Hilenen Aben offered
them free surgery.
Aben who partnered Oral Health Advocacy
Initiative, OHAI, a non governmental agency that
aimed at increasing awareness on the problems
of
oral health in the society, said the free healthcare
was part of his Community Development Service,
CDS, of NYSC programme.
Over 22 patients were treated free of charge
during
the three days free surgery operations held at
Federal Medical Centre, Yola, from 23rd 26th
April,
2013.
Speaking during the flag off of the surgery, Aben
stated that his intention was to bring succour to
the indigent people in his host community. "I want
to serve my host community to the best of my
ability. This project is one of the many projects I have for this community".
The Project Officer of the OHAI, Mr Lobi Aondona
commended Mr Aben for the initiative and
expressed his organisation's readiness to work
with
any individual or group including corps members
who come up with viable projects for the people.
Speaking during the exercise, the NYSC State
Coordinator for Adamawa State, Alhaji Aliyu Taura
represented by the head of CDS, described the
project laudable, even as he commended the
initiators for rendering selfless service to the
community.
