NewsTech: Ativ Q - Samsung Win8 & Android Jelly-Bean Tablet

Electronics giant Samsung unveiled the ATIV Q
today, a new tablet that runs two different
operating systems simultaneously, Windows 8
and Android version 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
operating systems.
The ATIV Q offers nine hours of battery life on
a full charge, which isn't bad considering the
processor and high-definition display. There's
also the dual-booting to worry about, which
comes with some new software called
SideSync to share various data between the
two separate operating systems.
Samsung is also playing up the Ativ Q's ability
to run Android applications. According to
Samsung, the Ativ Q will allow users to
"experience both Windows 8 and Android
(Jellybean 4.2.2) on the same device." Android
apps can be pinned to the Windows 8 start
screen and run directly from there. The Ativ Q
lets users get Android apps directly from the
Google Play store and also potentially by
copying them from Windows. Samsung says
that the device can transfer files and folders
between Windows 8 and Android (which we
assume will be running virtualized).
The Ativ Q is the larger device, powered by a
new Intel Haswell Core i5 CPU (with Intel's HD
Graphics 4400 integrated GPU). It has 4GB of
DDR3 RAM and comes with a 128GB SSD.
Samsung promises battery life of up to nine
hours with the Ativ Q.

Chelsea star hints at surprise summer move to PSG

David Luiz has hinted that he could quit Chelsea this summer for Ligue 1 outfit PSG.The centre-half has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since Jose Mourinho returned as Blues boss earlier this month, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both thought to be interested in the Brazil international.

2011, Luiz has established himself as an important part of Chelsea's squad and made nearly 60 appearances for the first-team this season.

The versatile 26-year-old was utilised at defensive midfield by former boss Rafa Benitez but Mourinho reportedly does not rate Luiz at either centre-half or in midfield, and is willing to offload the player this summer to fund new signings.

Luiz is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup in his homeland and has admitted he would be interested in joining Ligue 1 champions PSG, who have a number of Brazilian players already on their books.

"I'm talking a lot about PSG and its project with Brazilian players," Luiz is quoted as saying by The Sun.

"The club made a good job in Ligue 1, and there have a very good players like Lucas Moura, Thiago Motta, Maxwell, Thiago Silva.

"And I don't speak about it with others, just Brazilians."

15 Spectacular Tricks For Your Body

1. If you've got an itch in your throat, scratch your ear. When the
nerves in the ear get stimulated, they create a reflex in the throat
that causes a muscle spasm, which cures the itch.

2. Having trouble hearing someone at a party or on the phone?
Use your right ear it's better at picking up rapid speech. But, the left is better at picking up music tones.

3. If you need to relieve yourself BADLY, but you're not anywhere
near a bathroom, fantasize about RELATIONS. That preoccupies your brain and distracts it.

4. Next time the doctor's going to give you an injection, COUGH as
the needle is going in. The cough raises the level of pressure in your
spinal canal, which limits the pain sensation as it tries to travel to
your brain.

5. Clear a stuffed nose or relieve sinus pressure by pushing your
tongue against the roof of your mouth then pressing a finger between
your eyebrows. Repeat that for 20seconds it causes the vomer bone
to rock, which loosens your congestion and clears you up.

6. If you ate a big meal and you're feeling full as you go to sleep,
lay on your left side. That'll keep you from suffering from acid reflux it keeps your stomach lower than your esophagus, which will helps
keep stomach acid from sliding up your throat.

7. You can stop a toothache by rubbing ice on the back of your
hand, on the webbed area between your thumb and index finger.
The nerve pathways there stimulate a part of the brain that blocks
pain signals from your mouth.

8. If you get all messed up on liquor, and the room starts spinning, put your hand on something stable. The reason: Alcohol dilutes the blood in the part of your ear called the cupula, which regulates balance. Putting your hand on something stable gives your brain another reference point, which will help make the world stop spinning.

9. Stop a nose bleed by putting some cotton on your upper gums right behind the small dent below your nose and press against it hard. Most of the bleeding comes from the cartilage wall that divides the nose, so pressing there helps get it to stop.

10. Nervous? Slow your heart rate down by blowing on your thumb. The vagus nerve controls your heart rate, and you can calm it down by breathing.

11. Need to breathe underwater for a while? Instead of taking a huge breath, HYPERVENTILATE before you go under, by taking a bunch of short breaths. That'll trick your brain into thinking it has more oxygen, and buy you about 10 extra seconds.

12. You can prevent BRAIN FREEZE by pressing your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much surface area as possible. Brain freeze happens because the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, so your brain thinks your whole body is cold. It compensates by overheating which causes your head to hurt. By warming up the roof of your mouth, you'll chill your brain and feel better.

13. If your hand falls asleep, rock your head from side to side. That'll wake your hand or arm up in less than a minute. Your hand falls asleep because of the nerves in your neck compressing so loosening your neck is the cure. If your foot falls asleep, that's governed by nerves lower in the body, so you need to stand up and walk around.

14. Finally, this one's totally USELESS, but a nice trick. Have someone stick their arm out to the side, straight, palm down. Press down on his wrist with two fingers. He'll resist, and his arm will stay horizontal. Then, have him put his foot on a surface that's half an inch off the ground, like a stack of magazines, and do the trick again. Because his spine position is thrown off, his arm will fall right to his side, no matter how much he tries to resist.

15. Got the hiccups? Press thumb and second finger over your
eyebrows until the hiccups are over - usually, in a short while

Nigeria Has 7 Hospitals For Kidney Transplant- Says Health Minister

Lagos, Nigeria - Seven tertiary hospitals in Nigeria have been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and personnel to undertake kidney transplant, the local VANGUARD newspaper quoted the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, as saying Thursday in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city.

It also quoted the minister, who was speaking at the 2013 Ministerial Platform, as also saying that the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital had the capacity to undertake open heart surgery
.

The minister said: "With this achievements and improvement in the health sector, there is no need for anyone to leave Nigeria to other countries for medical treatment, apart from cases where we do not have expertise in Nigeria because no country in the world can provide all the health needs of its people".

He noted that in an effort to ensure that Nigerians imbibed healthy lifestyle, his ministry was intensifying efforts and collaborating with members of the National Assembly to ensure that the tobacco bill became law.

This, according to him, will moderate the smoking habit of the people and prevent them from contracting deadly diseases, such as cancer, lungs diseases and many others.

"In the same vein, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, is also reviewing its laws to provide stiffer penalty for fake drug manufacturers and importers," he stressed.

The minister also revealed that, "very soon, herbal medicine will soon be introduced in our medical schools. This is because before you treat any disease, you must have the ability to diagnose it and administer the needed treatment. Herbal medicine practitioners will be given the needed training to perform optimally. "

He charged Nigerians to embrace the various health insurance programmes introduced by the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, stressing that for Nigerians to have access to affordable, effective and efficient healthcare services, health insurance was the way to go.

Also speaking at the platform, the Minister of State for Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, said that between 2009 to 2012, Nigeria had been able to reduce maternal mortality rate by 47 per cent.

He assured that with the current efforts of the President Jonathan-led government, polio would soon be a thing of the past in the country.

"Since the beginning of this year, we have had only 25 polio cases in the country which are mainly from the states like Borno and Yobe which are bedeviled with security challenges," he noted.

Pate reiterated that the effort of the federal government had led to the successes recorded in the total eradication of guinea worm diseases, for which the World Health Organisation (WHO) will give Nigeria guinea worm free certification this month.

"Meningitis outbreak has also become a thing of the past in this country," he stressed

How Brain Training Can Make You Significantly Smarter

As many people hit middle age, they often start to notice that their
memory and mental clarity are not what they used to be. We suddenly
can't remember where we put the keys just a moment ago, or an old
acquaintance's name, or the name of an old band we used to love. As
the brain fades, we euphemistically refer to these occurrences as
"senior moments."

While seemingly innocent, this loss of mental focus can potentially
have a detrimental impact on our professional, social, and personal
well-being.

It happens to most of us, but is it inevitable?

Neuroscientists are increasingly showing that there's actually a lot
that can be done. It turns that the brain needs exercise in much the
same way our muscles do, and the right mental workouts can
significantly improve our basic cognitive functions. Thinking is
essentially a process of making neural connections in the brain. To a
certain extent, our ability to excel in making the neural connections
that drive intelligence is inherited. However, because these
connections are made through effort and practice, scientists believe
that intelligence can expand and fluctuate according to mental effort.

Now, a new San Francisco Web-based company has taken it a step further
and developed the first "brain training program" designed to actually
help people improve and regain their mental sharpness. Called
Lumosity, it was designed by some of the leading experts in
neuroscience and cognitive psychology from Stanford University.

Lumosity, is far more than an online place to exercise your mental
skills. That's because they have integrated these exercises into a
Web-based program that allows you to systematically improve your
memory and attention skills. The program keeps track of your progress
and provides detailed feedback on your performance and improvement.
Most importantly, it constantly modifies and enhances the games you
play to build on the strengths you are developing--much like an
effective exercise routine requires you to increase resistance and
vary your muscle use.

Does it work?

Apparently it does. In randomized, controlled clinical trials,
Lumosity was shown to significantly improve basic cognitive functions.
One study showed students improved their scores on math tests by 34
percent after using Lumosity for six weeks, significantly greater
gains than those made by other students in the same class, who were
not training with the Lumosity program.

The company says its users have reported clearer and quicker thinking,
improved memory for names, numbers, directions, increased alertness
and awareness, elevated mood, and better concentration at work or
while driving.

While many of the games at Lumosity are free, a modest subscription
fee is required to use the full program over the long term.

However, Lumosity is currently offering a free trial of their program
to new users so that you can see how well it works before you decide
to subscribe. The trial is completely free (no credit card required)
and the company believes the results will speak for themselves.

Reasons Why You Should Sleep Unclad

While you sleep, the body perspires for a while and then cools down as it recuperates from the whole day stress and one principle of sleeping Unclad is to allow blood to circulate smoothly. Clothes restrict blood circulation, hence shedding that artificial skin is good for stimulating the same.

The tight elastic bands of your pajamas or short should be loosened for a sound comfortable sleep. Medical research have shown that sleeping Unclad is good for those suffering from insomnia as it has a comforting effect on them.

Going Unclad will streamline and accelerate the repair process of the skin. A healthy, uninterrupted air flow will help in the process. Sleeping Unclad allows the sebaceous glands to do their work best, which is sebum discharge and regeneration. This in turn helps in improving the metabolic rate of the body.

And for women, sleeping Unclad can be healthier for their private parts. While it’s totally normal to have yeast and bacteria down there, the warm environment can sometimes cause an overgrowth. One way to prevent infections is to “air it out”. Just don’t forget to lock your room.

Being too warm at night disrupts the release of melatonin and growth hormone (anti-aging) into the body. It regenerates. This is why a person looks refreshed and blooming after a long rest. Because the skin regenerates while you’re sleeping and it may not complete its cycle with clothes on.

Sleeping Unclad helps you sleep more soundly, which will allow your levels of the stress hormone cortisol to decrease as you rest, keeping your energy and hunger levels in check.

And of course, this is also beneficial to couples as sleeping Unclad encourages sexier relationships. Isn’t it nice to lay skin-to-skin at night?
